Gardening Tip: Fall 2013 Plant Sales in Phoenix

Dang, I very nearly forgot…the fall plant sales are THIS WEEK!  If you’re sprucing up your garden for fall (we get to do that here in Phoenix desert!), make sure you check out one of these plant sales.  It’s a great way to support our local gardening organizations, and you’ll get free plant selection and other gardening tips as a bonus!  Plus,  members get some nice perks such as members-only days and discounts on plants.

Desert Botanical Garden

  • Friday, October 11 (7:00am to 5:00pm, members only)
  • Saturday, October 12 (7:00am to 5:00pm)
  • Sunday, October 13 (9:00am to 5:00pm)

Boyce Thompson Arboretum

  • Friday, October 11 (8:00am to 5:00pm, members only)
  • Saturday, October 12 through Sunday, October 27 (8:00am to 5:00pm)

Maricopa Master Gardeners

By the way, if you can’t make it to one of these plant sales, be sure to visit your local nursery for locally grown native and desert-adapted xeriscape plants, as well as edibles and other specialty plants.


Step 9: Prepare for Pest & Problems

Ready to sit back and watch your vegetable garden sprout up?  Adding mulch helps control weeds, but it can’t keep pests at bay.  Luckily we don’t have many pests or problems in the Phoenix desert.
