Seeds from Plants of the Southwest

Plants of the SouthwestMy husband and I recently visited Santa Fe and, while there, visited several local nurseries.  One of them, Plants of the Southwest, offers not only nursery plants for the locals, it has a thriving online seed business as well.

My husband happened to tell Gail, the owner of Plants of the Southwest,  that he loves trees.  This was all Gail needed to lead us through a prickly thicket of brush, to the edge of her property, to show us this tree.  She wrote the name of the tree down for us, but I’ve since lost it so I can’t tell you what it is.  But Gail was clearly passionate about it, having planted it some years before and now finally experiencing its first bloom.

Anyway, we came home with a boatload of seeds, including some hard-to-find seeds for tepary beans grown locally by the Tohono O’odham.  Check out their collection of native seeds…some of which will work well in the Phoenix desert!
